Refunds & Returns
Changed your mind? You have 14 days. Here is how returns and refunds work at The Modern Alchemist — in line with our Terms & Conditions and Belgian consumer law.
Right of withdrawal — 14 days
You may withdraw from your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving any reason, in accordance with Article VI.47 of the Belgian Code of Economic Law.
Conditions
Because we sell food and beverage products, a return is only accepted if the bottle is intact, unopened, and its original tamper seal undamaged (Article VI.53, 4° of the Code — sealed goods that cannot be returned for health or hygiene reasons once unsealed).
A bottle with a broken seal, removed cap or otherwise opened cannot be returned, for hygiene and food safety reasons.
How to return an item
- Email us at enjoysipping@themodernalchemist.bar within 14 days of receiving your order, stating your wish to withdraw and your order number.
- Send the goods back within 14 days of notifying us, at your expense. We recommend a tracked shipping service — the risk of loss during return is on you until we receive the parcel.
- Return address: The Modern Alchemist, 55 avenue Adolphe Demeur, 1060 Saint-Gilles, Brussels, Belgium. You can also bring your return to the bar in person, any opening day from 6pm.
Refunds
Once we receive the returned goods — or proof of return, whichever comes first — we will refund the full price of the eligible products plus the standard delivery cost within 14 days, via the same payment method you used. Return shipping costs are not refunded.
Late or missing refunds
Depending on your bank, a refund via Bancontact, credit card or PayPal can take a few business days to appear. If nothing has arrived after 10 business days, contact us at enjoysipping@themodernalchemist.bar and we will chase it with our payment provider.
Damaged or incorrect orders
If your order arrives damaged, leaking or incorrect, email us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the parcel and its contents. We will replace the item or refund you in full, including shipping — at no cost to you.
